Conversation a couple of months ago:|
My Dad: So, I think girlfriend of 6 months and I are going to get married in a couple months.
My Dad: My church friends think we might be rushing things. Do you think we might be rushing things?
Me: Maybe, but you should do what you think is right for you, and not necessarily care what your friend's view of the situation is.
My Dad: Cool.
Me: Are you going to tell Mom? Cause you might want to get on that.
Conversation a couple weeks after this:
Me: So have you set a date yet?
My Dad: No, but it'll probably be sometime in the next couple of months.
Me: So, is it going to be a big thing?
My Dad: No, I think we're going to "elope." Just me, her and the justice of the peace.
Me: So you don't want me and Mere there?
My Dad: No, I don't think so.
Me: Okaayy...so are you going to tell Mom soon?
My Dad: Of course.
Conversation on Tuesday (In Giant Grocery Store):
My Dad: So is there still a marriage penalty on your taxes?
My In the Dark!Accountant!Mom: It depends on whether both people are working. Why? Are you planning on getting married soon?
My Dad: As a matter of fact I am!
Me: ::starts walking away quickly::
My No Longer in the Dark!Accountant! Mom: Oh.
My Mom: When?
My Dad: November 20th as a matter of fact.
My Mom: What?
My Dad: Yep!
My Mom: That's nice.
Later conversation in the Baking Aisle:
My Dad: ::looks at my mother's diamond ring:: Where'd you get that?
My Mom: Oh it used to belong to my aunt... ::launches into family story::
My Dad: That's cool. So, would you want to sell it? ::laughs::
My Mom: ...
My Mom: What?
Me: No! Of course not! ::wants to bitchslap dad::
Conversation on Wednesday night:
My Sis: So guess who just left me a message? Dad.
Me: ::braces self::
My Sis: Guess what he asked? If I could come down on Sunday (the 11th!) to be a witness at his wedding.
Me: He didn't call me...
Me: But seriously, SUNDAY?
Yeah, so it looks like I might have to try to get out of work early Sunday to go to my Dad's wedding.
